The Cruise Train, traveling through the country from Quito to Guayaquil and back, won the Best Wider World Project Award for the best touristic product outside of Europe, granted by the British Guild of Travel Writers. It has also been nominated for the Promotional Success Award by the Latin American Travel Association (LATA members). The nominations were presented by the British journalists: Anthony Lambert from the Railway Gazette International and the Daily Telegraph, and Dan Benians of Distinctive Americas.
